Klaus W. Rieck
KLAUS W. RIECK fascinates the viewer with majestic, beautiful stone sculptures. The experienced sculptor, born in Kassel, Germany, 1963, uses the materials marble, travertine and granite to create these elegant sculptures. He discovered his love for the material stone during his classic art of sculpture studies in Kassel and further developed his skill studying in Drawing, Architecture and Sculpture at the University of Arts (UDK) in Berlin, Germany. Since 1996 Rieck works and lives as freelance sculptor in Berlin. These are archetypes that the sculptor is concerned with in his art. Klaus W. Rieck enters into a dialogue with the stone during his work on one piece of stone and considers it as an individual in order to find its final form. In a long-term process sometimes for years the artist works on several stones in parallel and gives the stone shape in its most beautiful form. Klaus W. Rieck even opens our eyes for the stone. A white Carrara marble with different surfaces, rough and in the finest cut, grants the viewer a glimpse into its interior and we are attracted to capture the stone sculpture haptically.
