The Azores, an archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, is one of the world's best hotspots for whale watching. However, most attempts by a diver to get really close to these majestic marine mammals in the vast ocean for a perfect picture end in vain. Whales are careful and shy. It was the same with this fin whale, until it suddenly changed its mind after many unsuccessful advances and no longer fled, as it always did before. Floating underneath the surface of the water, this fascinating creature awaited the photographer until he could almost touch it. The animal's eye looks at him curiously, then disappears into the dark depths of the ocean with a powerful flap.
